Simplicity...
'The
trouble with the rat race is, even if you win, you are still a rat'- Lily Tomlin
Research has shown that we have
five more hours more spare time per day than we did thirty years ago.
Technological advances ,automation, faster cars and the availability of
convenience food should theoretically make life easier and simpler, however
all it has done is create a scenario in which we have to work even harder
to maintain this 'more comfortable' lifestyle. Our lives may have become
more comfortable, but certainly less simple. Only when we find ourselves
anxious, tired and completely burnt out, do we realise how much we have
sacrificed for a 'better life'.
More and more people have reached a
point in their lives where they have made a conscious decision to
'downshift' and to simplify. These are people who have realized that we
accumulate and consume far more than we need, and in the process create
more debt and the need to work even harder to accumulate even more. These
are people who realise that the more we have, the more we fear losing.
And these are people who seek a
life filled with more passion and purpose, meaning ,fulfillment and
happiness- A life to look back on with no regrets.
Today, just take a step back and
think about how much of your 'life' you have sacrificed for your
'lifestyle' and think about how you can simplify and unclutter your life .
Often the amount of 'stuff' we
have in our space is very indicative of the 'stuff' we have in our heads,
and just the simple task of clearing the clothes that you no longer wear or
just simply giving away possessions that that you may be holding on to will
leave you feeling that much lighter.
A simple smile, a simple meal, a
simple walk in nature or a simple hug can enrich your life in a great way.
In simplicity you will find peace,
clarity and great fulfillment.
At Woodlands, while maintaining
quality, simplicity is a key focus, from our building design and treatment
rooms to our relationship with the river and trees.
We invite you to spend a day with
us and enrich your life with simplicity...
_ Words From Dr Ela
Of all the conditions and symptoms
that we come across in our practice, the symptoms relating to irritable
bowel syndrome are by far the most common. Most people who are undergoing a
stressful or emotional time in their lives will experience a change in
bowel habit- bloating, abdominal cramps, heartburn, diarrhea or a
combination of all of the above. Often, these symptoms become long standing
and very debilitating.
Irritable bowel syndrome, otherwise
known as spastic colon is related to the nerves which cause contraction and
spasm in the muscle of the intestines.
Interestingly, we have more neuro
receptors in our intestines than we do in our brain, so it is no surprise
that so much of what we experience as emotion is processed in our gut.
Hence the term 'gut feeling'.
In dealing with people with spastic
colon, we look at the diet as food intolerances and a low fibre diet is
often implicated in this condition. Many people have noticed a dramatic
improvement by taking a probiotic such as Acidophilus as well as Flaxseed oil.
From an emotional perspective, it
may be helpful to look at whether you are struggling with a lack of self
confidence, anxiety or maintaining power and boundaries.
I have had brilliant results with
BodyTalk in treating IBS. BodyTalk a very powerful healing modality that
stimulates your body to heal itself and address and balance the factors
that we might not be consciously aware of.
If you are struggling with a
particular condition and would like to approach it from a more integrated
perspective please e mail me on:
